Cleveland East Side · Cuyahoga County · Since 2004

Your kitchen looks like
1994. We can fix that.

Worn laminate, dead drawer slides, a layout that fights you every time you cook — these aren't cosmetic problems. Townsell transforms dated 1980s–2000s kitchens in Cuyahoga County's East Side suburbs with full Replace and Reimagine projects built around how you actually live.

Six Warning Signs

Your kitchen is telling you something.

These are the conditions we find in every outdated Cleveland East Side kitchen. If three or more describe your space, a full renovation is the honest recommendation.

Laminate or tile counters with stains and chips

Laminate counters from the 1980s–1990s show their age through edge swelling, surface staining, and heat damage that no cleaner fixes.

Cabinet doors that don't close, drawers that stick

Particleboard boxes from 1985–2005 absorb Ohio humidity and degrade. When the frames rack out of square, no amount of adjustment makes them right again.

Appliances that are loud, slow, or just barely working

A refrigerator from 2002 uses twice the electricity of a current model. A dishwasher that takes three cycles to clean a load isn't saving you time.

A layout that fights you every time you cook

Pre-1990 kitchens were designed before the triangle was replaced by work zones. A layout that made sense for a 1988 family doesn't work for how you cook in 2026.

Floors that show decades of wear regardless of cleaning

Sheet vinyl and old ceramic tile carry visible wear paths that no cleaning technique removes. These materials were also installed with adhesives that require encapsulation during demo.

No island, no peninsula, nowhere to gather

The absence of a landing zone or seating area in older kitchens is both a functional problem and the most common trigger for a full-scope kitchen remodel in the Cleveland East Side market.

Which scope is right for you?

Three paths. One honest answer.

Refresh

Same layout, new surfaces

Cabinets refaced or painted, new counters and backsplash, fresh hardware, updated lighting and fixtures. The bones stay; the look changes completely.

$18–$36K · 3–5 weeks

Replace

Same layout, all-new everything

Full demo. New semi-custom or custom cabinetry, new stone counters, new floors, new appliances. Layout stays the same, but every surface is brand new.

$38–$70K · 7–10 weeks

Reimagine

New layout — walls come down

Walls relocated or removed, plumbing and gas runs adjusted, often structural beams added. The kitchen ends up somewhere different than it started — usually more open, always more functional.

$74–$148K+ · 10–15 weeks

How do I know if my Cleveland kitchen needs a Refresh, Replace, or full Reimagine?

The deciding factor is the cabinet boxes. If the box frames are solid — no water damage, no racking, no delaminating particleboard — a Refresh (new door fronts, hardware, counters, backsplash) is the most cost-effective path. If the boxes themselves are gone, a Replace is the right scope. If the layout itself is the problem — no island, closed off from the rest of the house — a Reimagine is what actually fixes it. Curtis evaluates every kitchen at the free consultation and gives you a direct recommendation.

What does it cost to fully renovate an outdated 1990s Cleveland kitchen?

A full Replace — same layout, all-new semi-custom cabinetry, stone counters, new flooring, updated appliances — typically runs $38,000–$70,000 in the Cleveland East Side market. A Reimagine that changes the layout starts at $74,000. The 1990s colonials in Solon, Beachwood, and Highland Heights are our most common Replace candidates.

Can you remodel my kitchen without me leaving my home?

Most homeowners stay in their homes during kitchen remodels. We protect the rest of your house with dust barriers and floor covers, establish a temporary kitchen setup where possible, and schedule the noisiest demolition work during hours you tell us work for your schedule. The inconvenience is real but manageable — most families report it's easier than they expected.

How long will my kitchen be out of commission?

A Refresh is typically 3–5 weeks. A Replace is 7–10 weeks. A Reimagine is 10–15 weeks. These are real working weeks — Curtis shares a written schedule before demo begins and maintains it through to punch list. You'll know at any given moment exactly what's happening, what's next, and when your kitchen will be back.
